چکیده

Most existing context reasoning approaches implicitly assume that contexts are precise and complete. This assumption cannot be held in pervasive computing environments, where contexts are often imprecise and incomplete due to unreliable connectivity, user mobility and resource constraints. To this end, we propose an approach called CRET: Context Reasoning using extended Evidence Theory. CRET applies the evidence theory to context reasoning in pervasive computing environments. Because evidence theory is limited by two fundamental problems – computation-intensiveness and Zadeh paradox, CRET presents evidence selection and conflict resolution strategies. Empirical study shows that CRET is desirable for pervasive applications. © 2009 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

A semantic-aware role-based access control model for pervasive computing environments

Access control in open and dynamic Pervasive Computing Environments (PCEs) is a very complex mechanism and encompasses various new requirements. In fact, in such environments, context information should be used in access control decision process; however, it is not applicable to gather all context information completely and accurately all the time. Thus, a suitable access control model for PCEs...

A context-sensitive dynamic role-based access control model for pervasive computing environments

Resources and services are accessible in pervasive computing environments from anywhere and at any time. Also, due to ever-changing nature of such environments, the identity of users is unknown. However, users must be able to access the required resources based on their contexts. These and other similar complexities necessitate dynamic and context-aware access control models for such environmen...

Reasoning about Context in Uncertain Pervasive Computing Environments

Context-awareness is a key to enabling intelligent adaptation in pervasive computing applications that need to cope with dynamic and uncertain environments. Addressing uncertainty is one of the major issues in contextbased situation modeling and reasoning approaches. Uncertainty can be caused by inaccuracy, ambiguity or incompleteness of sensed context. However, there is another aspect of uncer...

An ontology for context-aware pervasive computing environments

This document describes COBRA-ONT an ontology for supporting pervasive context-aware systems. COBRA-ONT, expressed in the Web Ontology Language OWL, is a collection of ontologies for describing places, agents, events and their associated properties in an intelligent meeting room domain. This ontology is developed as a part of the Context Broker Architecture (CoBrA), a broker-centric agent archi...

Context Information Management for Pervasive Computing

Pervasive Computing systems have to deal with the contextual information (context), which characterizes the current situation of the involved entities (e.g., users, mobile devices, environment, etc.). This dissertation studies context management issues related to the capability of a pervasive system on adapting its behavior to the involved entities context. Specifically, the interaction between...
